Foundation-supported Scholars Graduate from UPLB

LAGUNA, PHILIPPINES – Six college scholars and one graduate scholar supported by the Forest Foundation Philippines graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) last June 23, 2018.

The Foundation, together with the UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources (UPLB CFNR) and UPLB CFNR Alumni Association (UPLB CFNRAA), launched the Forest Conservation and Stewardship Scholarship Program (FCSSP) in 2014 to encourage and support students to take up forestry-related courses.

Philip Jones Reyes, who graduated Magna cum laude with a degree in Forestry, shared, “If it weren’t for the FCSSP grant, I would not be able to maximize my academic skills that were initially hindered by my financial limitations.” Beanca Lian Anyayahan, who graduated Cum laude with a degree in Forestry, added, “Aside from the financial assistance, I am grateful for the scholarship because of the recognition that they have given the scholars. It kept me motivated to sustain my good academic standing and gave me the inspiration to strive for greater contributions to forestry.”

The two graduates plan to take the Forestry Licensure Exam immediately after graduation and work as Foresters. Reyes shared, “I have decided to work here in the country as a form of servicing the Filipino people, who paid for my studies.” Anyayahan echoed the same plan, “I plan to be a good forester for the country.”
