Generali Philippines strengthens its commitment to the environment and Filipino community wellbeing by partnering with Forest Foundation Philippines.
As Generali Philippines commits one mangrove seedling planted for every retail insurance solution sold, its customers will now also contribute to mangrove conservation as they get peace of mind and protection of their own.
The Municipality of Siruma, Camarines Sur is the pilot site of the tree growing effort under this engagement, and will be done through the Forest Foundation Philippines and its partner community-based organization in the area, the Samahan ng Maliliit na Mangingisda ng Matandang Siruma (SMMMS).
The partnership was made official with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing event, with messages of support from Dr. Hak Hong Soo, President and CEO of Generali Philippines, and presentations from Atty. Jose Andres Canivel, Executive Director of Forest Foundation Philippines, and Luny Ebonia, Board of Trustees (BOT) Secretary of SMMMS.
Communities in Siruma not only recognize, but deeply value their mangrove forests. Their active participation in a decade-long rehabilitation project from 2014-2024 through the assistance of Forest Foundation Philippines and other partners is an undeniable testament to their dedication for nature.
Conservation and reforestation activities to sustain the various ecosystem services provided by the mangroves, especially in the coastal barangays in Siruma that are most vulnerable to strong winds and waves, can now carry on, thanks to this crucial pledge from Generali Philippines.
