Forest Foundation Brings Project Development Workshop to Tacloban City In Support of its 2023-2027 Results Framework

Following the Project Development Workshops in Southern Sierra Madre and Palawan, Forest Foundation met with People’s Organizations (POs), Non-governmental (NGOs), and members of the academe in Tacloban City, Leyte, on May 17, 2023, to assist the potential grantees in strengthening their project proposals and aligning these with the Foundation’s target outcomes.

The event, titled Rooting for the Future: Project Development Workshop for Forest Foundation Philippines’ Results Framework 2023-2027, is a series of workshops aimed at gathering new proponents and ensuring that project proposals are consistent with Forest Foundation’s goals.

With the aid of Tinker House, the Foundation’s grantee and co-organizer, the activity brought together over 40 participants from Samar and Leyte. Organizations present during the workshop included BAKHAW Youth Organization, Camansihay Upland Development Association, Caritas Borongan, Dampigan Farmers Association, Divisoria Peatland Farmers Association, Eastern Visayas Tourism Association, Environmental Legal Assistance Center- Leyte, FYT Media, KASAMMAVA FIACO, Langit Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Farmers Association, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tacloban-Leyte, San Isidro Organic Farmers Association, SciBiz Informatics, Tigbawon Fisherfolks and Mangrove Association, UP Tacloban College, and Wild Wild Pigs Eco-Peat & Agri-Tourism Farm.

Fruitful conversations emerged during the workshop, with the enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by the participants. Potential projects included support for peatland and mangrove forest conservation, watershed protection, reforestation initiatives, livelihood and ecotourism interventions, advocacy campaigns, and research studies.

Project Development Workshops will also be held in Northern Sierra Madre, Calamianes Group of Islands, and Mindanao in the coming months.
