In celebration of the 158th Year of the Philippine Forestry Service and Arbor Day, Forest Foundation Philippines forged a partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Forest Management Bureau (DENR – FMB) for Bike Hike Plant + (BHP+).
BHP+ was a 20-day virtual accumulated marathon, which ran from June 1 to 20. It aimed to celebrate and showcase the beauty of Philippine forests, encourage citizen participation in forest conservation, and widen the network of forestry champions through responsible tourism and proactive reforestation. The event was open to runners, walkers, bikers, and hikers. Their accumulated kilometers will be converted into actual seedlings and planted in reforestations of partner institutions.
Forest Foundation is one of the reforestation partners of DENR – FMB for this event. The Foundation will plant and nurture five hundred native seedlings in Quirino, which is located in the forested landscape of Sierra Madre, together with its partner People’s Organizations (POs), in support of the event.
