Forest Foundation Philippines Approves PhP 23 Million in Grants for Forest Protection and Conservation to Sustain Ecosystem Services and Support Climate Action

Quezon City, Philippines — During its fourth Board of Trustees (BOT) Meeting for the year, Forest Foundation Philippines approved over PhP 23  million in grants under its Tropical Forest Conservation Fund II (TFCFII).

The TFCFII is financed through the debt-for-nature swap agreement between the Governments of the Philippines and the United States of America, which provides long-term funding support for forest protection and sustainable management initiatives in the country. 

The Foundation is guided by the sustainable forest landscape approach that strives to protect and sustainably manage the forests for water, land productivity, and biodiversity — with the overarching goal of sustaining ecosystem services and forest-related climate action.

Below is the list of approved projects:

Tropical Forest Conservation Fund II (TFCFII):

Northern Philippines
Safeguarding the Conservation and Ecosystem Network for the Resilient Inhabitants of PolilloTanggol Kalikasan
Central Philippines
Empowering Women for Mangrove Forest Conservation and in Building a Resilient Community Project – Phase IIShalom Women’s Biodiversity Conservation Association
Increasing  Calamianes’ Resilience through Improved Ecosystem Management and Sustainable Livelihood Enhancement IIICalamianes Resilience Network

These grants are aimed at protecting, conserving, and sustainably managing the country’s most critical forest landscapes: Sierra Madre, Palawan, Samar and Leyte, and Mindanao.
