In a shared commitment to sustainability, Forest Foundation Philippines and Frankie General Store partnered to strengthen support for forest-dependent communities in Palawan.
This collaboration is part of Frankie General Store’s growing advocacy to support local enterprises and work alongside purpose-driven organizations. As a result of the partnership, Frankie General Store raised and donated PhP 22,352.53 to support the Pengebiyagan it mga Pela’wan Deges ato’ Et Isugod (PPDI), a partner indigenous peoples organization of the Foundation in Isugod, Quezon, Palawan. The donation will help upgrade PPDI’s honey processing center, further strengthening their forest-based livelihood.
The partnership builds on the Foundation’s ongoing support to PPDI through a project focused on strengthening the capacities of indigenous peoples in leading forest conservation-related activities aligned with their Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan, such as reforestation, agroforestry, and sustainable livelihoods. This support is implemented in partnership with its grantee, the Institute for the Development of Educational and Ecological Alternatives, Inc. (IDEAS), and implementing partner, Non-Timber Forest Products – Exchange Program Philippines (NTFP-EP Philippines).
This project contributes to the strengthening of the protection and conservation of the Victoria-Anepahan Mountain Range (VAMR), one of the largest Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) in Palawan. Spanning approximately 164,000 hectares, VAMR is rich in biodiversity and water resources, with 34 watersheds that support residential, agricultural, commercial, and industrial use. It covers the municipalities of Narra, Quezon, and Aborlan, and the city of Puerto Princesa.
Through meaningful collaborations like this, the Foundation aims to continue empowering local communities and facilitating partnerships that protect forests while supporting community well-being.
