Forest Fest 2024: Celebrating People, Enterprises, and Products that Foster Forest Protection and Conservation in Mindanao

Forest Fest 2024, a partnership between Forest Foundation Philippines and The Spark Project is set to unfold from April 18 to 20, 2024 at Ayala Malls Centrio to showcase forest-based Mindanaoan products, and empower enterprises that protect and conserve the forests in a pitch competition.

“We see social enterprises as a valuable partner in the protection and conservation of our forests. By integrating forest conservation into their operations, supply chains, and advocacy, they can help conserve our natural resources, while empowering communities, towards inclusive economic growth,” said Atty. Jose Andres Canivel, Executive Director of FFP.

Scheduled to take place over three days at Ayala’s Activity Center, Forest Fest 2024 promises to bring together various stakeholders, including social entrepreneurs, local communities, conservation groups, and the private sector in one room to foster collaboration and exchange innovative ideas on forest conservation.

It will host a three-day Exhibit & Fair where participants can join experiential workshops, talks, and exhibitions showcasing initiatives and products promoting forest protection and conservation in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental. The affair will also feature the Grant & Partnership Forum where attendees are given access to valuable opportunities to explore grant funding and partnership avenues provided by Forest Foundation Philippines.

The goal of Forest Fest 2024 is to provide a forum for social entrepreneurs to propose novel approaches and creative solutions to these forest conservation issues, especially through nature-based enterprises. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a nature-based enterprise refers to a business or economic activity that derives its value from natural resources, ecosystems, or biodiversity. These enterprises typically operate in harmony with the environment, aiming to conserve and sustainably manage natural resources while generating income and livelihood opportunities for local communities. The event also aims to create relationships and collaborations that are critical for furthering the cause of sustainable forest management by offering networking opportunities.

The program is a collaborative endeavor between Forest Foundation Philippines and The Spark Project, with the support of Ayala Malls Centrio, Association of Young Environmental Journalists (AYEJ), Talarak Foundation Inc., and Xavier Science Foundation.

The Foundation, in collaboration with its partners, extends an invitation to all individuals to attend and participate in the celebrations, from April 18 to 20, 2024, at the Activity Center of Ayala Mall Centrio in Cagayan de Oro City.

Help protect and conserve the forests of Mindanao by supporting homegrown products from forest-dependent communities and joining the pitch fest to ideate and accelerate solutions that can ensure a better future for us and the forests. For the benefit of future generations, let’s work together to conserve the environment.
