MNL City Run Donates PHP 50,000 to Forest Foundation Philippines to Support Forest Restoration in the KKSP Landscape

Forest Foundation Philippines is strengthening its support for Indigenous-led forest conservation through a PHP 50,000 donation from MNL City Run, raised through the Eco Fest Run. The donation will support forest restoration and biofencing activities in the Kimangkil–Kalanawan–Sumagaya–Pamalihi (KKSP) forest landscape in Mindanao, home to Higaonon Indigenous Peoples (IPs) whose Ancestral Domains (ADs) encompass interconnected forests, mountains, and watersheds.

Through its grantee, the Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme (NTFP-EP), Forest Foundation supports Higaonon communities in strengthening Indigenous forest governance, conserving biodiversity, advancing climate action, and developing sustainable livelihoods. The project also promotes community-based forest monitoring and enterprises using non-timber forest products. The additional funding will help address gaps in existing project support by providing resources for restoration and biofencing activities, complementing community efforts to protect their ADs and natural resources.

This partnership demonstrates how collective action can help advance Indigenous-led conservation, and strengthen the resilience of forests and communities.
