On April 13, 2023, Forest Foundation gathered potential grantees for a Project Development workshop, following the release of its Request for Proposals for forest conservation projects in Sierra Madre under its Results Framework 2023-2027.
The activity, titled Rooting for the Future: Project Development Workshop for Forest Foundation Philippines’ Results Framework 2023-2027, is a series of workshops catered to aid new proponents in strengthening their proposals and aligning their projects with the Foundation’s target outcomes.
For this workshop, the Foundation partnered with Miriam College’s Environmental Studies Institute, its grantee. Twenty participants from various organizations and communities convened at Miriam College in Quezon City, to learn more about the Foundation’s work and current grant program, and consult their proposals with Forest Foundation’s project officers.
Attendees included representatives from the Non-Timber Forest Products – Exchange Program Philippines, UP Mountaineers, Samahan ng Magsasaka sa Kilingan-Panusugin, Apu Ne Kaapung-apongan, Kaksaan Ne Dumaget de Antipolo Inc., Samahan Magbubukid ng Biyayang Lupa sa San Mateo, Inc., Balagbag Environmental Society Inc., Sitio Paruwagan United Farmers Association, Barangay Puray Upland Farmers Association, Inc., Bamboo Professionals, Inc., Empowered Laiban Community Producers Cooperative, Philippines Network of Environmental Educators, Climate Action and Sustainable Environment Association, Inc., Miriam College – Environmental Studies Institute, and representatives from the DENR PENRO Rizal and CENRO Guiguinto, Bulacan.
Programs Committee Chairperson Dennis Salvador and Executive Director Atty. Jose Andres Canivel, along with Forest Foundation’s staff, were also present in the workshop to introduce the Foundation to potential grantees and discuss how their projects can better be tailored to the needs of the Sierra Madre landscape, and benefit the local community as well.
The participants will be submitting their full proposals to the Foundation by May 31, 2023.
Forest Foundation will conduct Project Development Workshops in the succeeding months at its four focal landscapes: Sierra Madre, Palawan, Samar and Leyte, and Mindanao.
