Forest Foundation Philippines’ Board of Trustees (BOT) recently approved over PHP 45 million in grant proposals during its first quarterly meeting of the year.
The approved grants amounting to more than PhP 20 million under the second Tropical Forest Conservation Fund (TFCF-II) include:
- Consolidating Coffee for Forest Conservation, Philippine Coffee Alliance
- Beyond SILG 2.0: Stories, Insights, and the Road Ahead, Habi Education Lab
- Sustainable Forest-based Enterprise towards the Protection and Conservation of the Forest of Sacred Mountain National Park, IKRAM Agriculture Cooperative
These grants are aimed at protecting, conserving, and sustainably managing the country’s most critical forest landscapes: Sierra Madre, Palawan, Samar and Leyte, and Mindanao.
With support from the Government of Canada, under the Philippines-Canada Partnership on Nature-based Solutions for Climate Adaptation (PCP4NbS) program, the Foundation approved over PhP 25 million in grants for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) across the Philippines:
- Nurturing Gawahon: A Community-Driven Model for Utilizing Nature-based Solutions, Fostering Gender Equality and Harnessing Ecotourism, BeeGlad (Gawahon Livelihood and Apiculture Development Association)
- Developing Nature-Based Regenerative Agroforestry and Organic Farming for Sustainable Agriculture and Ecosystem Restoration of Sicaba and Malogo River Watersheds, Negros Occidental, The Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Foundation, Inc. (NISARD)
- Sustaining Sicaba Watershed through Agro-Forestry and Local Enterprise, The Negros Economic Development Foundation, Inc. (NEDF)
- San Carlos City Collaborative Restoration of River Easements Utilizing Nature Based-Solutions, San Carlos Development Board, Inc. (SCDBI)
- Strengthening Roles of the Women Tedurays Indigenous Peoples in Climate Change Adaptation, Resilience and Peacebuilding, Teduray Lambangian Women’s Organization, Inc. (TLWOI)
- Supporting Tagbanwa Agroforestry through Adaptive Restoration of Indigenous Food Crop System, Aplaya Collaborative Center for Conservation, Inc.
