The Board of Trustees (BOT) of Forest Foundation Philippines recently approved over PHP 38 million in grant proposals aimed at protecting, conserving, and sustainably managing the country’s most critical forest landscapes during its third quarterly meeting for 2024.
The approved grants include:
- Enhancing CBFM for Community Resiliency Project, Quirino Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (QFMPC)
- Documentation of Agta/Dumagat Remontado Indigenous Governance and Political Structure: A Foundation for the Review of IPMR Guidelines and IP Participation in Local Decision-Making Process, Samahan ng mga Katutubong Agta/ Dumagat/ Remontado na Ipinagtatanggol at Binabaka ang Lupaing Ninuno (SAGIBIN LN)
- Updating the Key Biodiversity Areas of the Philippines, Biodiversity Conservation Society of the Philippines (BCSP)
- Updating the Key Biodiversity Areas of the Philippines, Haribon Foundation
- Updating the Key Biodiversity Areas of the Philippines, Institute of Biology Alumni of UP Diliman (IBA)
- Kuwentong Kagubatan (Forest Stories): Art of Effective, Impactful, and Science Communication, Probe Media Foundation
- Forest Devolution for Change (FDC): Developing a Policy for Mainstreaming the Effective Implementation of Devolved Forest Management Functions to Local Government Units, Dixon T. Gevaña, PhD
- Towards the Development of the Tawi-Tawi Biodiversity Action Plan (Phase 1), Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. (PBCFI)
On March 21, 2023, in celebration of the International Day of Forests, Forest Foundation launched its Results Framework 2023-2027. This framework leverages the Foundation’s grantmaking experience and follows a sustainable landscape approach. It emphasizes collective and transformative actions by public, private, and civil society stakeholders to protect and conserve Philippine forests, while addressing the climate crisis.
Forest Foundation works with its grantees and partners to sustainably manage forests for water, land, and biodiversity, and to foster forest-related climate action. Its focal landscapes include Sierra Madre, Palawan, Samar and Leyte, and Mindanao. Through this Framework, Forest Foundation is committed to enhancing the relationship between people and forests, ensuring its sustainability for future generations.
