Forest Foundation Philippines and Guild Solutions, Inc. (GSI) formalized a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 10, 2026, committing to support the restoration of three hectares of degraded forest land within the Quirino Protected Landscape (QPL) in Northern Luzon.
The partnership reinforces the shared commitment of Forest Foundation and GSI in advancing forest protection and conservation through collaborative action, combining private-sector support with community-based environmental stewardship.
The additional three hectares supported by GSI will contribute to Forest Foundation’s ongoing forest restoration efforts in the QPL, a key biodiversity and watershed area situated within the Sierra Madre mountain range. The initiative will expand restoration work in priority conservation areas managed by Indigenous Peoples (IPs) while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.
Forest Foundation currently works with Tamsi-Kadikitan Livelihood Association, Inc. (TAKALAI), a People’s Organization managing a Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA) area, to restore degraded forests in the landscape, including an existing 25-hectare restoration program within the headwaters of Gibien Creek. GSI’s support will help scale up these efforts and strengthen the protection of critical forest ecosystems.
The QPL plays a vital role in conserving biodiversity, protecting watersheds, and safeguarding the headwaters of the Cagayan River. As part of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, often referred to as the “Backbone of Luzon,” the landscape also helps buffer communities from typhoons and supports water security across Northern Luzon.
Through this partnership, Forest Foundation and GSI aim to demonstrate how collaborations between civil society and the private sector can contribute to long-term forest protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development for communities.
