Empowered local fisherfolk to conserve and sustainably manage the mangrove ecosystems of Sibuguey Bay through community-led restoration and capacity building. With the Foundation’s support, fisherfolk organizations and partners reforested over 900 hectares of denuded mangroves and abandoned fishponds, and strengthened their capacities in coastal resource management, sustainable aquaculture, and organizational development. These efforts, sustained through partnerships with the local government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and other stakeholders, contributed to the effective management of the Sibugay Coastal Wetlands.
