Forest Foundation Philippines Approves Over PHP 90 M in Grants

November 28, 2017

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – During its third quarterly meeting, the Forest Foundation Philippines’ Board of Trustees approved over PHP 90 M in medium and large grants to support projects that will protect the country’s forests. The approved projects will be implemented for one to five years in the Foundation’s focal landscapes: Sierra Madre, Palawan, Samar and Leyte, and Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental.

Early this year, the Foundation launched its Grant Program for 2017-2021. The overall, long-term goal of the Program is the protection and sustainable management of Philippine forests and its biodiversity. It is supported by the governments of the United States of America and the Philippines through the Second Tropical Forest Conservation Agreement (TFCA2). Signed in 2013, TFCA2 facilitates the administration and management of USD 32 M to continue the conservation, protection, restoration, and sustainable use and management of the Philippine forests.

The Program supports projects at three levels: Small Grant covers projects that require financial support up to PHP 500,000, Medium Grant covers projects that require financial support up to PHP 6 M and Large Grant covers projects that require financial support up to PHP 24 M.
